A common symptom of trigger finger is pain in the base of your finger – in particular around the knuckle on the palm side of your hand.

  • Pain in the base of your finger – in particular around the knuckle on the palm side of your hand
  • Feelings of stiffness in the finger – particularly in the morning
  • When you bend your finger it may lock into a position

Risk factors

  • Repetitive gripping can lead to overuse and inflammation of the tendons – contributing to the development of trigger finger
  • Underlying health conditions such as diabetes or rheumatoid arthritis can increase the likelihood of developing trigger finger

Treatment options

  • Exercises: Movement exercises can help to improve the flexibility and prevent stiffness in your hand
