Before embarking on my degree as a mature-aged student, I spent 10 years working in community and disability support services. This experience inspired me to pursue tertiary education to deepen my knowledge in disability and health. Since beginning my Occupational Therapy degree, I have developed a strong interest in upper limb therapy. This interest grew as I became more engaged with the physiology, anatomy, and physical function aspects of the program, and gained hands-on experience in conducting upper limb assessments for both children and adults.
Prior securing a position at Melbourne Hand Rehab, I volunteered at the Werribee Clinic to stay current with clinical interventions and assessments, addressing the diverse needs of patients. This experience helped me enhance my skills in muscle strengthening, nerve function, and movement, while also increasing my confidence in my ability to support patients in achieving their goals. Volunteering has provided me with the opportunity to further develop as a hand therapist, contributing to the overall health and wellbeing of patients through specialised hand therapy.

My approach to care: I believe that providing an empathetic attitude helps with understanding underlying issues when patients are experiencing acute or chronic upper limb conditions.
Outside of work I deliver recreational hand-crafted floral workshops for people with a disability. I have an active lifestyle that involves enjoying the outdoors and physical exercise.
